Man Places ‘Chastity Lock’ On Girlfriend Every Day For 12 Year

If you thought chastity belts only existed in Medieval tales, think again.
LOCKFor more than a decade, a Mexican man locked his girlfriend’s pants shut every morning for fear that she would be unfaithful to him, CNN en Español reports. The 25-year-old woman finally alerted police late last month when she desperately needed to use the bathroom but was too afraid to cut her pants open.
The woman had been living with her 40-year-old boyfriend José Antonio “N” since the age of 13 in a rural area within the state of Veracruz, according to the Mexican daily El Universal. Local authorities say the abuse had been going on during those 12 years, that is, until the woman finally called the police for help on Sept. 28.
Officers found the victim alone at home but quickly tracked down José Antonio and brought him into custody. CNN reports the man not only had the key with him butconfessed to having shut his girlfriend’s pants with the metal lock.
Once the girlfriend refused to press charges, however, the police were forced to let the man go after he paid a fine for a separate and minor infraction. The following day, authorities forced the man to sign a document stating he would not use the lock on the victim again.

ASUU: Strike Will Improve Education Sector

The President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Nasir Fagge, said on Tuesday that the current strike by lecturers of public universities in the country was a sacrifice for better things to come.
Fagge said in Lagos that unless the deficits in the education sector, especially the university system, were addressed once and for all, there would be no development.
The lecturers, under the aegis of ASUU, had on June 30 embarked on what it had described as ‘comprehensive, total and indefinite strike’ in public universities across the country.
The lecturers are asking for the implementation of some aspects of an agreement they jointly entered into with the Federal Government in 2009.
According to Fagge, it is regrettable that the strike is protracted, and that the decision of ASUU to remain adamant until its demands are fully met can seem uncomfortable and worrisome.
He said that the industrial action was a sacrifice needed to salvage the entire economy of the country.
``I sincerely want to call on all concerned, especially students and parents, to bear with us, as well as join hands with us in the struggle to right the wrongs in our education sector once and for all, for the good of us all and that of the country.
``I know it is quite a difficult time for us but I also want to state that what we are doing is for our own good, as well as ensure that strikes become rare, as a weapon to get things done in our system.
``We also want to ensure that there is sincerity and respect for mutual agreements by parties in order to attain a common goal for the good of our dear country,” he said.
Fagge, however, lauded the supervising education Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, for finding time to meet with the Executive Committee of ASUU, in a bid to find a lasting solution to the protracted strike.
The unionist also commended the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and other stakeholders for their concern in attempts to end the strike.
He noted that such was the spirit needed to ensure that nobody felt cheated and that what the lecturers were asking for was truly for the advancement of the course of the country.
According to Fagge, with the current attempts by the various stakeholders, he is optimistic that there will soon be a mutual understanding between the parties.
``I think with the various meetings we have held with the concerned stakeholders, I am optimistic that there will soon be a way out and our demands met, so that in the shortest possible time, we will get the required development that will make us compete favourably within the comity of nations.
``For us in the academic communities, we strongly wish government should look into the deficit of insincerity in our system, teaching facilities, in order for us to be able to deliver on our mandate.
``Majority of our children and wards in this country do attend these public universities and we cannot afford to fold our hands and watch them study under deplorable conditions, while those who can afford sending their children abroad feel little or no concern about it,'' he said.
On the appointment of ministers to replace the recently sacked ones, Fagge suggested that it should be hinged strictly on the basis of merit.
``We need people who will come in with confidence of the power that be in terms of tackling challenges; be up and doing and would always want to come up with new approaches to addressing problems,” he said.

Students, Lecturers Count Cost Of ASUU Strike

The lingering industrial strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities comes with a lot of cost for both students and lecturers.

Two months after the Academic Staff Union of Universities embarked on an industrial action, the negotiations between the union and the Federal Government is still deadlocked.

Like professor and Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, Yomi Akinyeye, noted, ‘one cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs.’

ASUU Political, FG Critical by Adesina Davidinho of Obafemi Awolowo University

ASUU-strike-CartoonAfter spending almost 2 whole months at home (75) days to be precise),doing nothing academically positive to my bright future,I am beginning to feel like a wasted vessel in my parent’s house already. After spending a considerable number of years at home before gaining my admission into one of Nigeria’s first generation universities (3 years to be precise), I am left wallowing in some sort of dirty pit,dug by this unrepentant group called ASUU for the Federal Government of Nigeria which has also caught millions of helpless Nigerian students like me in the midst of a ceaseless gun-fire that has now made ASUU a re-occurring prayer point in every student’s mind and mouth.

Judging from previous experiences on past strike actions emanating from the camp of ASUU,senior contemporaries, mostly graduates and students in their finals say this strike would last the length of its word, which from its inception was said to be lasting 100 days. But to what benefit is this to us the suffering students who are languishing and wasting away at home at the mercy of every unwanted sympathizer who comes by visiting.Since the inception of this unending strike,I have been forced to abandon my books and stay glued to the internet, watching out for any news on ASUU and their negotiations with the Federal Government.I stumbled upon this article very recently, and it has even heightened my fear on how much longer we are going to spend at home.I’ll share just some parts of this article to drive home my point.
This is an excerpt of the content of a letter written by Dr Nasir Isa Fagge (Chairman of ASSU) to the Head of National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy, NEEDs Assessment, and Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, after the release of N100 billion for infrastructural development in various universities across the nation, and N30 billion for the overdue lecturers salary and allowances. It reads thus:

“We observe that the Committee is so far mentioning only N100billion. If the implementation is to be related to the funding requirements in the 2009 ASUU/FG agreement and the January 2012 MoU, what is due 2012 and 2013 is N500 billion not N100 billion. Only the provision of this sum will meet the immediate needs of the universities. “Our Union is very apprehensive of the manner in which the sources of the initial N100 billion to be used for the stimulation of the process are shrouded in secrecy. We believe that monies that belong to the universities should not be blocked and recycled. This will not only be counter-productive, but will brew even deeper crises in

Federal Government ‘Did Not Order Gold Iphones,’ Embarrassed State House Repeats

The presidency on Thursday evening issued another denial that the government ordered customized gold iPhones from a Dubai-based British company to mark the country’s 53rd independence anniversary next month.  The report was first published on Tuesday by The Independent, a London-based newspaper.

In yet another official reaction, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati described the report as not only false and misleading, but utterly mischievous.

Tompolo’s Private Jet And Other Lies

I have consistently restrained myself from responding to lies and unfounded comments made on the person of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo on his days in the creeks and afterwards. As responding to deliberately concocted lies is nothing but an attempt to give credence to counterfactual affirmations, hence the need to thread the part of silence – since silence in itself is the best response to a fool. However, the latest rumour on his acquisition of a private jet has become one lie too many.

Therefore, for the purpose of setting the records straight, I hereby state categorically that all such malicious rumours peddled in recent times on Tompolo owning oil blocks, mansions in Abuja and Lagos and overseas are false. These are lies deliberately made up and disseminated by criminal elements whose aim is to tarnish Tompolo’s personality. These are criminals whose ignoble exploits are currently affected by Tompolo’s efforts to support the government in ensuring peace and security in the Niger Delta region and in Nigeria at large.

Anyone who has the Niger Delta at heart and thinking critically how the multiplicity of problems bedeviling the inhabitants of the region could be tackled would have little or no time for such frivolities orchestrated by sponsored enemies of the region and her people.

The most recent attack on Tompolo’s person is an unfounded report titled: “The Opportunity Cost of Tompolo’s Private Jet” supposedly written by one Kikiowo Ileowo and published in an unpopular online blog which has assisted these rumour peddlers in the spread of falsehood across social media space. I wish to state unequivocally that:High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo  does not  have a Bombardier Lear 60SE Jet or any jet for that matter.

The likes of Kikiowo Ileowo should know that jets (Bombardier or of other sorts) are yet to be accommodated anywhere in Tompolo’s scale of preference. If he had $13.3 million as alleged by the liar, he would gladly invest such money to uplift the poor, suffering and downtrodden in oil-bearing yet unnoticed communities of the Niger Delta through his foundation (Tompolo Foundation) rather than buy a jet. Tompolo knows just how far $13.3 million will go in ameliorating the suffering of his people in the Niger Delta region who have been ultimately forgotten by Governments in Nigeria and the multinationals engaged in the degradation of the region through their oil exploration activities.

This should serve as an outcry to journalists to desist from the lazy man’s approach to the noble profession of journalism. They should not sit in beer parlours to gather rumours for publication online/newspapers rather they should embrace investigative journalism and adhere to the ethics of balanced, fairness and objectivity.

Finally, I appreciate all those that have contacted the family and friends of Tompolo to ascertain the veracity of the rumours. Also, thanks to those who have taken time out of their tight schedule to comment online and otherwise against the phantom jet rumour and other lies.
Truth is sacred!
Thank you.

The Untold Story Of The ASUU Strike

In the past two months, university teachers have been on strike.

The money, the lecturers say, does not meet their demands. Parents and students are also urging the Federal Government to honour the agreement in full.
The Federal Government may consider the N100 billion it has released out of the N500 billion for infrastructural projects in 61 universities a big deal but university teachers think otherwise.

Lagosians make money selling sperms for N50,000

Fertility clinics: Lagosians make money selling sperm for N50,000

Fertility clinics
People get married for different reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into marriage for procreation.  For couples who look forward to having children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by experts is like a death sentence.
While it is generally agreed that it takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more fertility challenge now.  Sperm concentration in men is said to have decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have decreased by half over the past 50 years.
Studies are also showing genetic abnormalities in sperm particularly in older men. For men therefore, quantity, quality and motility of spermatozoa are seen as important factors in fertility.
Since the male factor is a prominent cause of infertility in couples, sperm donation has become vital in assisted conception treatment.
